Farmkart can distribute items to remote and rural places. That comprises areas that are not yet serviced by e-commerce majors in this country, within 24-36 hours. This agritech startup was selected as part of the Top 50 Global Innovation Startups in 2018 by Startup Grind, which was powered by Google for Entrepreneurship. The startup was also appreciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 70th edition of ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

2. AgriVijay

Established in 2020 by Vimal Panjwani along with his mother who was a retired government officer Shobha Chanchlani, AgriVijay provides farmers and the rural families a broad range of renewable energy products tailored to their requirements and infrastructure setup.

This Pune-based startup is an aggregator. It provides several products –

  • biogas gensets, 
  • solar-powered water pumps, 
  • solar energy inverters, and 
  • solar water heaters to suit the specific energy needs of buyers.

The startup sells primarily via its website, social media channels, and call center. Farmers can buy the products from the offline stores of the startup in villages as well. The prices for solar and biogas energy products range from Rs 9,000 to Rs 35,000.

3. Rise Hydroponics

Rise Hydroponics was founded in April 2020, by Tusshar Aggarwal with the partnership of Vivek Shukla and Meet Patel. This emerging agritech startup delivers end-to-end soil-less farming repairs which are meant to help in evolving both indoor and outdoor hydroponic farm projects.

The Ahmedabad-based agritech startup aims to create a 12,000+ sq ft commercial hydroponics farm in Bhiwandi, which is expected to be working soon. Apart from this, it has created an indoor vertical hydroponics farm in Worli, Mumbai.

4. Agrifeeder

Established in 2017 by ​​Rounak Kumar with his partners Priya Pandey and Raman Kumar. Agrifeeder is offering farmers by training them about the latest technologies, farming techniques, offering good quality fertilizers and seeds to pre-harvest marketing and post-harvest management.

Agrifeeder supports farmers in five primary aspects — 

  • Storage facilities

The Bihar-based startup is training farmers on farming techniques, the appropriate use of fertilizers and chemicals to enhance productivity, and also on deciding on prices of the items produced. It is also training farmers to produce their organic fertilizers and boosting them to adopt organic farming.

5. Saptarishi

Agritech startup Saptkrishi that has its headquarters at Bhagalpur has developed Sabji Kothi or Preservation, which is a Wheel-mountable, microclimate-based storage system that is portable, cost-effective, and extends the shelf life of vegetables and fruits from three days to up to 30 days.

Established in 2019 by Nikky Kumar Jha along with his sister Rashmi Jha, this emerging agritech startup is currently being accelerated at IIT-Kanpur. It was initially produced at IIT-Patna and has been doing paid pilot trials via various private and public collaborations like with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Indian government, and consulting firm Microwave.

Nikky states that the USP of his company lies in the fact that it is a non-cooling, zero-chemical, and totally green technology priced at Rs 10,000. According to him,

“It is a valuable one-time investment and will last multiple harvest seasons. It increases the RoI for farmers and traders, and opens new opportunities and bigger markets.”
