About Tech Mahindra
Tech Mahindra is a multinational company that provides BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and IT (Information Technology) services. It is a subsidiary of the Mahindra Group that has its registered office in Mumbai and their headquarters in Pune.
Tracing back its history, Mahindra & Mahindra initiated a joint venture with the British Telecom in 1986 as a technology outsourcing entity. Soon later the British Telecom started to sell their part of the share which was 30%. They sold their shares in 3 parts and slowly got themselves detached from Mahindra & Mahindra.
How And Why Tech Mahindra Mission Oxygen Began?
'We are aware of the likelihood of the virus coming back in another wave. Therefore, (we) feel the need to support our country to prepare better by strengthening the healthcare system, especially in areas where the cases are to peak in the next 3-5 weeks based on analytics and data modeling.' said Jagdish Mitra, Tech Mahindra Chief Strategy Officer and Head Of Growth.
For this reason, the organization is putting forward its support as Tech Mahindra mission oxygen and enabling it to set up 50 oxygen plants for the government hospitals and charitable purposes.
“We are confident that together, we can contribute towards enabling the supply chain digitally and provide immediate access of oxygen concentrators to hospitals, and also set up permanent oxygen facilities for the long run,” he further added.
The goal of this mission is also to enable the hospitals to be self-sufficient by allowing the provision of PSA (Pressure Swing Absorption) plants.
Few among these plants are expected to produce a cylindrical capacity of 15 Nm3/hour. This will total to 55 oxygen cylinders every day. According to a statement, this support can provide uninterrupted oxygen supply to 27-30 patients.
Tech Mahindra Mission Oxygen has joined hands with the Mission Oxygen initiative with the Democracy People Foundation that has 250 entrepreneurs as the participants. Through this initiative Rs 36 crore has been raised from donations and there has been an arrangement of 1000 oxygen concentrators. Another 5000 oxygen generators are expected to be arranged by May 20.
As a part of the partnership, Tech Mahindra will also provide various technologies that will support the campaign digitally and expand their supply chain operations. Adding to that, the partnership will also be advantageous for Tech Mahindra’s universal partner ecosystem of the associates, partners, and clients for raising awareness.
How And Why Tech Mahindra Mission Oxygen Began?
As India falls prey to the Covid-19 pandemic’s second wave there are states that are facing an acute shortage of medical supplies prominently oxygen supplies. The social media is filled with SOS calls with people searching for oxygen supplies, hospital beds, plasma donors, and also ventilators. Many organizations across the globe have come together to arrange for these amenities.
“OkCredit” has recently launched a website – Co-aid.in. This website will navigate the users to get through the verified leads for critical medicines and equipment regarding the Covid-19. This Portal is said to provide real time information on the availability of the medical equipment. The user interface has been simplified so that users from all sectors can use it. To search for availability the user will have to just enter their location and pin code and the availability will be shown up.
OkCredit wishes to further expand this platform by affixing it with other critical resources of Covid-19 that require increased availability in the public domain.
Other Similar Programs
Except for the few mentioned above, there are various other organizations that are rolling out such programs that are helping the needs of the public domain. One such is Financial Technology Firm BharatPe. It has initiated a program to spread awareness regarding the benefits of covid-19 vaccination amongst its six million merchant partners. It will also provide cashback to its merchant partners when they scan the vaccination certificate through the BharatPe app. Besides that, it has also added a vaccination tracker for Covid-19 where the users can track relevant information for the same.
Earlier this week the philanthropic wing of Ola, Ola Foundation, has affirmed to provide customers with oxygen requirements in partnership with GiveIndia, which is a donation platform.
“We're beginning in Bengaluru today and will be rolling this out across the country with up to 10,000 concentrators soon. We hope this will bring much-needed support and relief to those in need,' said Gaurav Porwal, Ola Chief Operating Officer.
To receive the oxygens the customers just have to request an oxygen generator from the Ola App by inserting a few primary details. The Ola will then pick up an oxygen generator via one of its cabs that is driven by the most efficient drivers and will be delivered to your doorstep. Once you are done with that cylinder Ola will again come to pick that up and will return that back to GiveIndia.
Conclusion
In this pandemic, there are various organizations that are coming forward to extend aid to the people of the country. Few among them are the Tech Mahindra Mission Oxygen, Ola Foundations’ Oxygen Delivery, and so on.
