Studies have shown the significant benefits of the Pfizer vaccine against Omicron. A third dose of the Pfizer vaccine shot offers “significant protection” against the latest covid variant Omicron as per researchers of Israeli said.
The study that was held by the Health Ministry’s Central Virology Laboratory and Sheba Medical Center, examined the blood from 20 people who were vaccinated by Pfizer 5-6 months before to the relatable amount of those who were given a booster dose a month ago. According to Gili Regev-Yochay, director of the center’s Infectious Diseases Unit,
“People who received the second dose 5 or 6 months ago do not have any neutralization ability against the Omicron. While they do have some against the Delta [variant].”
According to a report by a media house,
“The good news is that with the booster dose it increases about a hundred fold. There is a significant protection of the booster dose. It is lower than the neutralization ability against the Delta, about four times lower.”
According to Dr. Sharon Alroy-Preis, who is the head of public health services of the health department of Israel, on the fact that Pfizer vaccine against Omicron is preventively said,
“People who have received the booster are better protected than those who received only the second, and of course, more than the unvaccinated. Two doses are not effective enough.”
The findings arrived after Pfizer vaccine stated on Wednesday that initial results of a laboratory experiment show a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine of this company neutralizes the Omicron variant of the Covid-19. On this Joe Biden said,
“The expectation is that the existing vaccines protect against Omicron, but if you get the booster, you’re really in good shape. And so that’s very encouraging news.”
Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is the White House chief medical adviser, has stated in recent days that a booster COVID-19 dose mainly for the latest Omicron variant may not be required but a third dose will soon be needed to be termed as “fully vaccinated,” and that the latest variant, that is named last month, is “almost certainly” less harmful than the Delta variant of the virus.
Last month, BioNTech declared that it has started working on designing a COVID-19 vaccine to aim specifically at the Omicron variant. This Omicron-specific vaccine is set to get ready by March 2022. Since then studies have been going on, and now the benefit of the Pfizer vaccine against Omicron can be said with assertion.
